The story of a woman's birth is her own- I cannot tell it but I can say with all my heart that birth, and photographs of women bringing human life into the world, offer us a glimpse at beauty and strength that embody the human spirit. It has taken me some time to share many of the birth stories (in photographs) you see here on the blog- but sharing these stories must happen with the utmost reverence for the mama and her family. I thank all the women who share these most intimate moments with our community, knowing that birth that is reverently supported and honors the emotional spiritual evolution of the family and whole self of the mothers, babies, and families inspires others.
Mama B, my dear friend. I love you and your sweet baby that I had the honor of watching take her first breath. May the love that surrounded you at the moment of her birth, the women and men (those sweet big brothers and wonderful father) that smiled and fell in love with her, remind you of your great strength and courage. May that courage and love bear you through the many years of work in raising your sweet babies, and may your heart be renewed again and again every time you look at these Photographs and remember what an incredible woman you are.
